YLOCOS KANNAWIDAN FESTIVAL

K A N N A W I D A N

Ilocos Sur, our very own province has rich and spectacular cultures and traditions that we Ilocanos must be proud of. In order to showcase these, we have important festives just to exhibit and promote products of ours and precious cultures of Ilocanos to attract and invite tourists to come and visit Ilocos. One of these is the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival which is a week-long festive of happiness for local and foreign tourists as more entertaining events are included in the celebration.

The province has a rich heritage and unique cultures that need to be preserved for the next generations. However, many of these traditions, songs, dances and other Ilocano cultures were not already familiar to the younger generations because of the influence of the television, computer and internet. Highlights include the members of the Bayanihan Dance Company entertained the Ilocanos with their world class performance of the Beauty of the Philippines through dances, music and sounds. Their graceful movements and excellent rendition of songs and playing the native musical instruments throw attractions from the crowd.

These include traditional ancestral rituals, choir, marching band contest, traditional music ensemble, dance drama, traditional and folk dances, contemporary dance competition and street dancing showdown. These events encourage young Ilocanos to learn these indigenous songs and dances for sustainability and preservation. Trade and agri fair displayed all products from the different towns of the Ilocos Sur and its nearby provinces.

This Kannawidan Ylocos Festival aims to create awareness on the preservation of the province’ rich cultural heritage, practices and traditions, and a showcase of the different agriculture and industry products. We, Ilocanos should all be proud of with this because we are having this for tourists to appreciate our rich culture. Moreover, let us all preserve these cultures for next generations and this will serve as our trademark as an Ilocano.

My Dream..... My Future!

       Nothing worth having comes easy.

       DREAM BIG!

Everything starts with a simple goal. I want to be a certified accountant , outstanding teacher, good nurse, loyal attorney, responsible employee: these are only of people’s dreams.

As I grow older, I also want many things. I don’t know which I am going to choose. I always think they exactly fit for me. But, I realized, that there are more important things than my desires. Aside from attaining my goals, there’s more to life than fantasies.

In life, we must be creative. It’s not enough to be intelligent to be successful. We must think wisely and smartly.

      Be determined. DREM BIG!

CHANGE: It Starts With Me :)

Change to be different!!

Start it with discipline. Continue doing great things. Spread positivity. Build your confidence but dont build your walls higher than your limits. Smile: one day, life will get tired of upsetting you. Change for good not for worse.

Dont let anyone ruin your every day. Show them youre not just anyone. Live each day as if it is your last. Dont try to be unique, show it. Dont be afraid to fail, its always a part of living. Dont be afraid to get hurt; it makes you stronger.

And remember; put God first before anything else. Let your faith be bigger than your fears. Theres nothing to do with your life when you cant afford to lose. Always believe, believe in yourself. Change!

Equal Rights, Equal Opportunity!

EQUAL RIGHTS, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

Equal opportunity is giving everyone the same opportunities for everything without discriminating against particular group.
Discriminating is the most common reason why people are given less opportunities and less rights. This is an activity where treating one person or group of people less fairly or less well than other people.
It is also the reason why other people have less self- confidence than the other group, that causes fewer rights and less opportunity. This thing must cut to an end to give others more chances to prove their selves to the crowd that they can what others can’t. It will serve as their stairway to be seen as a human.
Giving equal rights and equal opportunities, helps people to gain their strength to show what they’ve got and to earn enough courage to shoe off their hidden skills in any fields. Most importantly, it will be their next step to boast what has never seen in them.

The True Essence of Christmas

Christmas Spirit

Christmas is the period of several days around and including Christmas Day. It is a Christian Festival when the birth of Jesus our savior is celebrated.
In preparation for the Christmas, people put decorations around their houses such as Christmas trees, lanterns, Christmas lights, Christmas stockings and a lot more. These are to beautify their little homes and to indicate the spirit of Christmas.
Aside from those things, Christmas is not just about decorating or putting some beautifying stuffs but also about sharing love and scattering peace. Through these two things, we will able to let people know the true meaning of Christmas. And we will able to make people feel the spirit of Jesus.
Christmas is something really special. Exchanging gifts and cards are the things we also often do but making others happy and comfortable makes our Christmas. It is also where we can make people believe that Jesus is the center of our life and everything with him is can be possible. Christmas is just being happy. J

The Essence of Christmas

CHRISTMAS SPIRIT

LOVE. PEACE. HAPPINESS.

Gift giving, Christmas music and caroling, an exchange of Christmas cards, church celebrations, a special meal, and the display of various Christmas decoration, including Christmas tree, Christmas lights, garlands, wreaths, mistletoe, and holly are the things we commonly do during Christmas Holidays.

It is also important if we share the most magical thing in the world, LOVE. For it binds us to become one and to realize the true meaning of Christmas. It inspires many people to change what’s not good in them. It motivates people to do great things not just during Christmas Holidays but in every day of their lives. Spreading peace to each other makes the whole thing worthwhile. Sidewise, peace bears happiness. And from happiness, we enjoy.

Of course, Christmas will never be complete if we forget to thank God for the blessings he showered us. We won’t be able to feel the joy if it’s not because of him. We won’t be able to see the beauty in everything, if it’s not because of him. Aside from all the things we received and gained by our own hardship, Jesus is the real center of celebrating Christmas.
